I Had Surgery
My first surgery was at the age of 6 when I had adenoids removed and ear tubes put in. Second surgery was at 10, tonsils out and ear tubes put in. Third and fourth surgeries were c-sections. Fifth surgery was to correct a deviated nasal septum. My sixth surgery was a year and a half ago when I had a partial mastoidectomy with, osscioplasty and tympanoplasty.
That is... to remove part of the bone behind the ear to access the bones behind the eardrum and replace them. They are called ossicles (stapes, incus and malleus). And then repair the hole in the eardrum.
I had lost all of my hearing in my right ear due to a cyst that developed in my eardrum and eroded the ossicles.
It took about 6 months post op to regain all the hearing I could in that ear, but still have mild to moderate deafness in it.
