Can't Beleive It's Now a Thing of the Past!!

and my daughter getting a shot for it!

Our parents used to cart us around to a house of a child with the virus so that we would get it and it would be over with!

And boy did it itch! Our moms would be so happy when those tell-tale bumps first appeared on our backs or stomachs. And those Calamine baths!! Man did it itch!!!  Scratch Scratch Scratch!

I knew people that go bad cases of it and then picked their scabs and they forever had nasty scabs on their faces. I only have one scab embedded in my right eyebrow. You can't see it but the hair doesn't grow so well there. But those poor kids who had scars! Poor things!

It is something that moms these days don't have to even deal with. I guess that's a good thing. I would feel awful for my daughter if she had to suffer through the chicken pocks like I did.

I think they were named for they way a chicken's skin looks once you had pulled out all his feathers! And here in the South, we say you have 'chicken bumps' if you have the chills! Silly!

Well if you had them, then you know and I hope you had a good case so that you never had to get them again. You were probably shocked like me when you heard there was a shot for it now! Man, time flies!

I am so glad there is a shot for it now. I have no immuntity for it. I have had it 3 or 4 times in my life. Too bad they don't offer it to older people. I will make sure that my daughter gets this shot.

Heh I didnt know they immunised for it - thats quite cool. <br />
I had it bad - but thankfully only one scar under my arm :)
