I Miss Her So Much

My dog, Pearl, just passed yesterday on April 15, 2012. She was always so playful and happy. She would always jump around, she was so much fun. One day, she started breathing really weird, so i took her to the vet. Unfortunately, she had a heart condition which caused it to fill up with fluid. The doctors gave her emergency surgery to remove the fluid, but she didn't make it. I miss you baby. I feel so broken without you.

    I'm so sorry for your pain. We had to have our 13 year old Chesapeake Bay Retriever put down about 6 weeks ago for the same thing. The poor thing panted 24/7 like he had just run a mile. It was hard watching him deteriorate and then we made the decision to put him down. I knew I loved that dog but did not anticipate how much we would miss him. My husband who is a "tough-guy" fell apart. I was really worried about him!! He felt the guilt because he was the one who took him in.

    I still get misty eyed at night when I am clearing the dishes. For two reasons, one Jake used to sit in the hallway between my kitchen and the living room and watch me clean up every night waiting for that morsel of food that he would without a doubt get and two, because my husband buried him down the hill outside our kitchen window and put a memorial flag on his grave that has a dog that looks just like him.

    Just keep remembering that he was loved and probably couldn't have had a better life with anyone else. That helps!
