Breaks My Heart

I hear ya ,I just went to a shelter a few weeks ago to get a puppy and I came home with a female pit bull who time was up ,I could not leave her there after she looked up at me with the most sad eyes I have ever seen

We can't have Pit Bulls where I live, they recently passed a law, anyone who has them has to get a license and sign a contract or something of the sort that they won't breed them and no one can bring any into the province. If they do they get euthanized (the dogs I mean, not the owners)...the idea is that once this generation dies off there won't be any more in Ontario...

My pit bulls are the best dogs I've ever owned. They get along great with my three cats and four other dogs. I even take them to the dog park. I was afraid of pit bulls until I rescued one. Now I know that these dogs LOVE people! Its too bad some people don't know how to raise a dog with a high prey drive.

My brother has a pit and I agree, he is the biggest sweet heart.

I agree Dogsrcute, mean people are responsible for the way a lot of Pitts are. They are tenacious and that was once a great quality for they were used on farms like Rotts at one time. Now these idiots have instilled such a high prey drive that the public is afraid of them. I would love to have one but I can't b/c we have a horse farm.I'm afraid to take the chance. The good thing is there are responsible breeders now working to breed out that high prey drive that these idiot people have put there,and there are people like all of you that are speaking out. pitts have got a bad rep,but brought up in a loving home thay are the most loyal friend you can get. i have got a pitt/cross? she was the runt of the litter nobody wanted . and for the last 4 years she has never left my side. but a month ago she had a bad slip hurt her spine rushed to the vets initial diognoses was she was paralised in her rear legs.had to leave her there for two days for further tests.i was in bits seeing my dog go from very active to looking very old and scared.after 2 days vet says i can take her home and only carry her out to do her buisness.spent the next couple of weeks lying on the floor with her sleeping or very light exersise week later i woke up looked at her and she had a sparkle in her eyes again now she walking 15 min 4 times a day and getting stronger. vet said all is looking good .goes to show how thay become a member of your family
