It's a Moot Point...or Is It?

Two years ago, my high school English teacher taught the class that "moot" (as in the very often misused phrase, "It's a moot point") actually means debatable! I told my husband that, and he told me a couple of days ago that he can't even use that word in a sentence anymore because I completely threw him off. :)

Ha! I love when someone actually knows that. The other one that bothers me is when people say that something, "begs the question," without realizing that they're using a formal term of logic to mean something completely different from its actual definition.

oh wow -- i thought it was "moo" .... like a cow's opinion, it just didn't matter ;D
