Bad Grammar Is...well, Bad Grammar!!!

I'm italian but I've been living in new york city for the past 30 years. I was never exposed to slang...everyone always used proper english around me, on account of the fact that I didn't speak the lang uage, yet. I learned without slang and not too many contraptions, therefore my english is "clean", so-to-speak. I went to college and majored in english, of course...I had an english literature class with 25 students and a very strict professor who never gave very high grades, except for mine and another student...the other student was from germany. Once a group of classmates asked the german woman and I why the entire class - they were all americans - always got Bs and Cs in grammar and the 2 foreign students always got As...we started to laugh and we answered with almost the same words...we hadn't been exposed to slang and contraptions. I always notice misspellings especially in books - yes, BOOKS - and even in a dvd...people tell me I make too much of it...but my partner always asks me to spell words for her...
