I Hate Blood Tests

what i hate is that i am a very hard stick.  i frequently make the joke that i'm a turnip, and you can't get blood from a turnip!  One time it took 17 tries to get a single tube of blood from me, and that was WITH the specialist doing it.  i finally lost patience and told them all to leave me the **** alone!  They did, but only for half an hour or so...  i was inpatient at the time, and they just HAD to get that test...  i was black and blue all up and down my arms by the time they were done with me!

    I never had a problem - they just jab me and the blood flows. My problem is psychological. If I look at the tube as I am giving blood I feel faint. I would probably pass out if I stared at it. I've been giving for forty years and this has never gotten better. When I donate I never look at what they are doing or at the tubes, etc. I stare at the ceiling or the TV which is usually on.

    Once they put my arm in a bucket of hot water to get the veins to the surface. A bit weird, but it worked.
