I Hate Fat Discrimination
There are so many ways in which overweight people are discriminated against, and every last one makes my blood boil. Having to purchase two seats on certain airlines for one, which I view as not only an embarrassment to the person, but as a form of 'punishment' for being large. With as much money as airlines make, what makes it so difficult for them to add in seats which accommodate large people? Nothing. They just don't care.
Another thing which bothers me is how some people react when they see an overweight person at a buffet. I've heard people say things like "the fatty's going to eat all the food", "that fatass doesn't need to eat", "I've lost my appetite now", etc., as if the person they're talking about can't hear them. I know they hear it, because I can see the pain, and sometimes tears on their faces. Just because a person is overweight, that doesn't mean they over-eat, nor does it mean they will eat all the food. People need to think before they speak. Which brings me to the one thing that bothers me the most -
Overweight people are not deaf, hard of hearing, nor are they incapable of feeling hurt. When you say something within earshot, I guarantee they hear you. I can't believe how many people act as though a person who is overweight can't hear them, or doesn't have feelings, as if they're not even human. Everyone has feelings, everyone is human - and everyone deserves to be treated as such, no matter how you may feel about their physical appearance.
