I Hate It When People Don't Take Care of Their Pets
Saving A Kitten And Having The Police Accuse Me Of Theft

Under a car on a cold fall night, I found an emaciated kitten...took him in,warmed him up in blankets and put him in a pet carrier to protect him from my cats and to protect my cats from him in case he had any disease or parasites until I could find funds to take him to a vet. Went out and in a six block radius knocked on doors and windows asking if someone had lost a young black kitten. No luck. Had a friend next door take care of him while I put up posters and an ad in the paper. No luck. My friend couldn't take care of the kitten anymore( 10 days had gone by)...luckily a vet student I knew said she would take him...through no-kill shelters I was able to have him checked out. Vaccinations done and a date to be neutered were set up....Now 3 weeks went by and there was a knock on my door...one of the cities fine young men in blue said that I had stolen the kitten from a woman down the street who had heard that I had found a black kitten. If I did not return the kitten to the woman( who obviously didn't care for the kitten) the next day I would be arrested for theft. No explaining, no proof from the vet that the kitten was malnourished...nothing I said mattered. She got the kitten back and I received threats to kill my cats by friends of hers standing on the corner. I now see the kitten outside and almost getting hit by cars. And he has lost the weight he had gained. So the "cat lady" is now known as a "cat thief". I'm also broke for buying kitten food. litter box, litter and scooper.
