Just Me Ranting

I can't stand how some people keep making comments on personal choices which don't have anything to do with them, like they're entitled. I just can't believe some people are for real.

Like this classmate of mine. Don't get me wrong, she has a lot of good things about her too and is probably my closest classmate, but not quite someone I would consider a friend. Not someone who is actually affected by my choices or I, by hers. At first, I remember how shocked I was when she told me she "didn't agree" with me being a vegetarian. I'm afraid the idea is lost in translation; the phrase she used involved a sort oif entitlement, as if I needed or cared about her approval (on a side note, I had been vegetarian four or so years before we met.) Occasionally she still comments negatively on my vegetarianism. Then, whenever the topic came up, she kept saying how my long-term (again, since long before I met her) boyfriend lives too far away and that I should find someone close by, without me ever asking or needing her advice (after all, I don't think she ever had a long-term relationship with anyone, but she's had even one-evening "relationships".) Now, after a long while, she seems to have backed off about that a little, but now keeps saying how he's too old for me, again without me asking or caring about her opinion. Granted, my relationship isn't traditional, but it's great with me, I know what I'm doing, and I don't see how this is her business at all. Then again, this is the psychology student who was giving a presentation about how homosexuality is a disorder, long after the DSM said otherwise..

Actually, I'm expecting many people might agree with her. Many of my choices are not what the majority does. Yet, I find it so annoying when someone who is not involved with me personally, outside school for example, feels entitled to tell me how to manage my own life. I disagree with several things other people do or believe, but I do my best to accept them as they are and not pester them with my opinions on their choices.

Just ranting, by the way. It's not like this is a big issue for me or anything. Just annoying. intolerance is a huge pet peeve of mine.
