False Friends

It annoys me that, no matter what I do to get in with the right kind of people, the ones I inevitably end up with are liars, backstabbers and drama queens. Why is that?

I'm loyal to the core, caring and considerate. Maybe I give too much or try too hard, but it annoys me that buggering off and leaving me to my own devices isn't enough for these people. They have to diss me online, too, and help to ruin my online reputation. The worst thing is that people who know all about this and ought to know better have taken to hanging out with the bullies and treating them like old friends.

Lolcat Lover ain't my original penname, of course. You'll have to take my word for it, but really -- why do people do this? What's wrong with integrity and basic human decency? I've got time for that. It's a shame my false friends don't.

The most annoying thing is that I've always been taught not to generalize. The thing is, if I did categorize people, I'd probably avoid situations like this in the first place by sticking with people who share my conservative Judeo-Christian values. Those who don't (with very few exceptions) are generally the ones who cause all the trouble.

Being accepting of people who are more liberal in outlook has brought me nothing but trouble. But that's what a good person is supposed to do, isn't it? Be accepting and agree to disagree? Sheesh!

To know that there are many good people with different world views, but experience says that trusting too different people is bad. A dilemma indeed. <br />
