26 And Still Living @ Home

I am 26 and still live at home with my parents. I am finishing my masters degree and have done a lot of part time work and internships for little or no money to help build my resume. I am constantly looking for 'real' jobs that pay more than $10/hour. But lets be realistic...its not happening especially this economy. My mom gives me lists to do everyday. My younger sister (who is also jobless) is perfect and my mom never bothers her about money issues and what she is/isn't spending her money on. Maybe because her restaurant owner of a boyfriend buys everything for her. Now my mom constantly pressures me about wanting grandchildren but yet, gets mad if I go on a date past 8pm! WTF? I am seriously over this whole living at home and am ready to move out but of course, since I have been trying to build my resume, have no money. I am in a financial catch 22 and need help!

You may have to just get a job that does'nt pay what you want... i know how it is im in da same boat, but hey sometimes you have to crawl before you walk. Hope everything works out sooner than later for you.

I'm in the same boat. It sucks. No other way to put it. I can't stand living at home, and all I dream about is the one day where I have my job and my own apartment and can live alone. I love my family, but I would much rather be loving them at a distance.

Right now it feels like it will never end. I'm sure someday when I have that dream and am on my own, I will wish I had cherished the time with my family more. But right now I just need out!

be glad you have somewhere to live and stay. be thankful that you have family.

me two i hate living at home chin up mate,

im studying full time and my dads gurlfriend hates me and complains about everything she can and screams at the top of her lungs just to get her own way. She doesnt have an children and doesnt know how to deal with them. My dad is at her beck and call. I hate living here, so i can totally understand where your coming from!

Getting enough money to move out is hard, ive been saving for about a year yet studying full-time doesnt help with the money situation.

Seriously if i dont get a place on my own soon, i think ill quit studying and work full time so i can move out !
Again dont stress mate, it will work out. :))

I hear ya, it's tough out there even for us hardworkers with a good resume, current education and great references. We're all starving to get a decent job that pays 10.00 an hour. Hang in there, you're not alone.
