My Dil Is Mean and Spitful

my son has been married now for 8 years, i have a beautiful 4 year old granddaughter which i only get to see when she feels like letting me. it breaks my heart, her parents can visit any time day or night, oh yes, her parents, they buy so many toys and clothes there is absolutely nothing left for me, they spend 200.00 a week on toys, i think its ridiculous. i simply can not afford all this and sometimes i feel depressed. it took two truck loads just to haul her x-mas stuff, me and my hubby are retired and I'm sorry i just cant compete. my dil loves to call me and brag and brag and brag about all this. i keep telling my son its only going to hurt the child. 4 years old, my dil takes bags of cloths with the tags still in place, dresses from Macy's and just throws them out. Please.

    My son continued to involve me in their battles. He tells me all the crappy stuff his wife does.

    She found the Instant Messages between my son and I. She accused him of betrayal, then call me screaming at me because she didn't like what I had to say. Everything has gone down since then. It has gotten to the point where I no longer want a relationship with either of them.

    I feel your pain. I think the hardest part of all this is realizing that you can't change how this person behaves and you either suck it up and try to see your grandchild as the reason to do it, or you back off, and not bother with her at all.

    My dil and son live in NY and my husband and I are retired in Florida. That never stops her requests for stuff from us and what she doesn't return she sells at the "Twins Sale"
