I Hate My Job
I deliver pizza, which, aside from the sub-minimum wage pay, road rage inducing idiot drivers, poor tippers, and expensive gas/car damage isn't a bad job in itself, but the bosses really serve to make the job worse than it is, two in particular (one is the general manager and the other is one of the asistatnts).
The two are related, in the sense that the assiatant is the general manager's roommate (conflict of interest, anyone?) and therefore will never be fired/have his hours seriously cut, as the GM relies on the AM's rent to help pay his bills.
The general manager, while being relatively competent (Apparently, he won "manager of the year" for the state.) and certainly a hard worker, is literally the rudest man I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with in my life. When he's in a good mood, he's insulting his employees, and in a bad mood he scarcely speaks, save yelling to dictate. This style of interaction is particularly annoying given his propensity to micromanage. He never acknowledges anything said when someone speaks to him, making conversing with him akin to interacting with Darth Vader. Furthermore, he treats all employees as expendable, reveling in his bragging about firing people, yet he's kept utterly useless employees far too long, and does nothing about the incessant text messaging (as opposed to working) by the inside staff. He's also known to cheat drivers on mileage compensation. While he induces a Stockholm Syndrome like attachment when he's in a good mood, working with him is extremely stressful.
His subordinate, an assistant manager, is the laziest and most incompetent moron I've worked for. A high school dropout, basic paperwork eludes him, and he's more apt to smoke a cigarette in the office than help clean the store, and then ***** when it takes forever to close. He chases anything that has a vagina, while operating with other employees on a high school level, even going so far as to refer to employees as "*****", and frequently engages in power-tripping with experienced drivers who know the job better than he, and treats new drivers in a manner similar to fraternity hazing. His personality and non-professionalism are mostly tolerable, but his hinderance rather than help gets tiresome. His incompetence was so serious as to merit his demotion to driver (and he was even worse at this, easily the slowest driver we have), but with recent developments (This job chews through assistant managers, and the GM's run out of options.), he's being reinstated as manager, a move leading to universal chagrin by the drivers at the store, one's even threatening to call corporate.
My evidence for these claims is the other managers I've worked for, who make work a far more enjoyable experience, be it the moderately lazy but friendly and entertaining manager, or the at times overly serious, but professional and efficient one. Also, none of the training managers have been anywhere near this displeasurable to work for.
