Husband's Sister, the Little Witch
She seems to think the entire world revolves around her. For example, two weeks before I was due to have our daughter, she calls everyone and announces she is getting married IN A WEEK and everyone should be at her mother's. The mil lives about 600 miles away. Everyone was pissed at us because I didn't want to make the 10 hour drive (selfish me for being pregnant cow that didn't wish to give birth on the side of a highway). Then they got pissed at me because I wouldn't "allow" my husband to drive to the wedding (once again, selfish me for wanting my husband to be present for the birth of our first and, as it turns out, will be only child).
Incidentally, her marriage lasted about two months, during which time she announces that she is pregnant. Her mother begins having baby showers for her "favorite child" and barraging my email inbox with her registry information (THREE registries! Why?). My sil even emails me to "remind" me that I hadn't yet bought her a gift and I really should get over the fact that she and ex are friends. Not once did my MIL offer to do any of these things for me, and I would never have the gall to email someone and "remind" them that they had not bought me a gift. Our families aren't rich. I don't expect people to buy things for a baby I chose to have!
The baby is born 2 days after my birthday... yay, me! MIL takes almost two months off of work to fly to sil's and help her out since she is a single mother and she knows nothing about babies, blah blah blah. Then, when June rolls back around and it is our daughter's first birthday, the mil states that she took too much time off of work to be with sil and can't come to the party. Nice!
I should also add that when my husband called to tell her we were getting married she insisted that he hand the phone to me and then "ordered" me not to marry her brother, saying things like, "You don't even know his middle name, do you?" And, when I had to quit work because I developed heart problems during my pregnancy, she told my husband "Well, what does she do all day? That makes her pretty much useless now, doesn't it?" Did I mention how sweet she is?

Posted Sep 13th, 2009 at 1:47AM Congrats on your daughter. You don't need them. I would just ignore them as much as possible. I know its his family so its not that easy but im going through the same thing. My future sil got married 3 months after we got engaged to someone she barely knew who was 25 engaged twice before with two domestic violence charges. She's 18 and its three months later in the divorce process. The mother is just as bad but my fiance is perfect and when we have children my friends will give me support NOT his family. | |
