I am white, Catholic mother , Lutheran father , best friend is Jewish, my girlfriend is Muslim (Ismaili), my uncle was from Sri Lanka, my ex-wife is Cuban, cousin's wife is French-Canadian, another is Turkish, yet another is Thai, grandparents were from Romania on one side, England and Ireland on the other, financial advisor is from Trinidad, I have friends who are Greek, Mexican, Colombian, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, Egyptian, Morrocan, Dutch, Belgian, Russian, Turkish, Chinese, Indian to name a few. Oh yeah, my brother is gay and so is one of my female cousins. I speak English, French and Spanish. I still want to learn German and Italian....Chinese would be nice but I'm not sure IF I can handle it. I grew up being multi-cultural, to me this is all NORMAL. It is what we are taught that makes us discriminate. The unfortuante thing is we cannot do anything but teach tolerance. Sometimes religion is a bad thing, at least in this case. Colour I believe is becoming less of an issue, again depending on where you live. I wish more people could be open and tolerant.
