"reality": It's Supposed To Mean "real"

Ah, reality tv, the joys of mindlessly watching other people going about their lives like normal. The problem: they aren't going about their lives like normal. In fact, even if people weren't being handed a script to follow (which happens more than the public likes to acknowledge), they would still act differently just having a camera in their face and feeling pressured to act a certain way knowing that they're being taped. Even shows like American Idol and Dancing with the Stars - seriously? I don't want to watch people competing to get a contract in the music industry. It's boring. There are a lot of talented people out there and I don't think it's fair to make the judges and audience have to vote for that. These people, if they're talented enough, should be able to catch the music industry's attention on their own.
