It most definitely sounds like your symptoms are a result of the stress you are experiencing. As the mother of two university students, I have seen the kind of effects that level of stress causes a student. While you may not have health insurance, I do believe that there are some things you can do to help reduce your stress level and in turn, can reduce the amount of side effects you are suffering from. First of all, it is essential that you get proper sleep. That is one of the MOST important things you can do for yourself. No matter how much sacrifice you may have to make in other areas of your life, sleep is not one you can afford to sacrifice. So, determine a time that you will go to sleep on school nights and STICK TO IT!!! Next....you NEED to eat a somewhat healthy & well balanced diet. While I realize that is not always possible, get yourself a good MULTI vitamin to help at least replace a bit of what your body isn't getting through a student's diet. The 3rd piece of advice I would give you is to do something for yourself that brings you PEACE & SERENITY. Do you have a hobby or a passion? What do you enjoy doing that brings you a great sense of peace and joy? Whether it is reading, going for walks or hikes or something artistic....it doesn't matter. What matters is that you give yourself a 'mental break' from your studies. I PROMISE you that if you can do these 3 things, you will not only SEE a decrease in your stress level (and also a decrease in the amount of hair that you are losing), but you will begin to FEEL a decrease in it as well! Last, but not least....you need to remind yourself that this is just temporary. While my son is only half way through his studies, my daughter is finally finished and will be graduating in the next couple of months! I saw how sick she used to get in her first couple of years in University, but as she learned how important sleep, good eating habits and having balance in her life was for her health and well being, things definitely got better and the last couple of years have gone much more smoothly for her. Lastly, you should look into joining a support group of some sort on campus. What better place to find ppl who can relate the most to what you are going through than those who are going through it as well? Knowing that you are NOT alone and that there are others who can relate to what you are going through will help you to not feel so alone and also will help get you through the rough days. I truly hope that you give my suggestions a try and wish nothing but the best of luck for you. The good news is that you are young and your body can recover from the effects it is experiencing due to the high amounts of stress you are experiencing. I also hope that you are close enough to your family that you can turn to them for support, but if you don't have anyone that you can talk to and if you EVER feel lonely and/or overwhelmed, please feel free to contact me. As you move forward and give these suggestions a try, PLEASE keep in touch and let me know how you are doing, okay? As the mother of a daughter who has just been through this, I do understand what you are going through and truly wish the best for you.
