I Hate Stupid People

When I worked in ER, I once had a patient with chemical burns on both feet.  I asked him what happened....  He had athlete's foot and had heard that it's a fungus.  He also heard that bleach kills fungus...  So he soaked his feet in a tub of straight bleach for about an hour....  I guess he missed out on all those TV commercials for OTC treatments...

      It was very severe. He had to be transported to a special burn unit in order to properly heal. Feet and hands are among the worst areas to sustain burns. Scar tissue does not stretch well and impairs mobility of joints. I don't know if he had to have skin grafts or not, but I wouldn't have been surprised.

    I completely understand where you are coming from. I've worked several jobs dealing with the public. I have been asked so many stupid questions its not funny. I will say this I once went to see an eye doctor and he told me this story of this guy that came to see him complaining that his contacts were bothering him. The Dr asked had he cleaned them and he said yea he used glass cleaner on them!

    Actually, bleach kills the good bacteria on your skin and you are MORE likely to get fungus.
