I Hate Surprise Visits
I love surprises. I just hate surprise visits. I'm not fond of people coming over unannounced for many reasons.
1. If I happened to have had any plans for the day, now they're ruined because I had an unexpected guest and it's not like I'm going to go as far as to kick them out. I'll just have to cancel the plans and that always sucks if it's something you really wanted to do.
2. When I'm home, I look like ****. I don't mind my parents seeing me like that, but most other people, I do mind. And what am I going to do? Leave them sitting at the front porch for a half hour or so while I try to get myself to look presentable enough to answer the door and let them in? I like to know in advance so that I have the time to get ready and prepare for their visit.
3. Sometimes I'm in a bad mood. Or am crampy and on my period. Or very sick. Or maybe I just don't feel up to hanging out. Either way, I'll definitely want to be left alone and will not appreciate company during those times. So if someone decides to come over on one of those days unannounced, it's not like I had much of a say on whether if it's a good day for me to hang out or not.
4. Sometimes I'm not home. I'll go out somewhere. Why should I not if I didn't know anybody was coming to see me?
5. Sometimes I'm in the shower taking my sweet time because I am completely oblivious to the fact that there is a person outside my front door waiting for me to answer it and let them in. I don't take my phone to the bathroom with me when I shower and I can't hear the doorbell with the water running either.
Of course, 4 &5 suck more for the person who decided to pay me a visit then for myself but you get the idea. A lot of people appreciate surprise visits, but I am not fond of them for those five reasons.
