Another Example Of Why I Got Out Of The ArmyI'm a civilian contractor in Afghanistan but I am also a US Army veteran.
Well...I was in Kandahar today walking around by the shops and I ate a kebab. I walked over to the trash cans after I had finished to throw my garbage away. I left my bag on the chair which was only 6 feet away. It was only without exaggeration 5 seconds before some fat E-7 passes by and tells me that I can't leave my bag alone on the bench like that because it could be mistaken for a bomb.
Are you ******* kidding me?
I have more interest than you in making sure that my laptop doesn't get stolen. I told him, "I'm right here!" but he didn't say anything and walked off.
People like this are E-7s. You give someone a little power and they think they own the world. It's the kind of people who stay enlisted in the Army because they can't make it on the outside or are afraid to. I used to have a platoon sergeant like this when I was in. He hadn't done anything else in his life except for the army and he suffered from low self-esteem as a result. At least, this is my theory. Because of his personal problems and difficult home life raising 3 kids it's my idea that he took this out on us. Anyways....
The Army is bullshit.
