So Many Small Things

I can live with the occasional big blunder, the complete screw-up, and the large problems we face in life. It's the constant, repetitive, little things that drive me nuts.  The biggest reason is because it is the little things, constantly contradicting "our" goals, that keep us from getting to where we want to be.
My wife constantly complains that we need to keep the house cleaner - her #1 pet peve that she is constantly griping about.  But walk in our house and you will quickly understand that she is her own worst problem - and the apples don't fall far from the trees.  Our kids are good kids, but they follow the examples we set for them to a "T".  If there is a flat surface, my wife has something sitting on it.  The table, a chair, the counter, a shelf - you name it, clutter.  Shoes here, socks there, everything has a place, and that place is everywhere and anywhere.  I can clean the counter, leave it spotless, and 5 minutes later she'll make a sandwich and leave everything out with a mess on the counter.  Unload the dishwasher and the dirty dishes just pile up in the sink.
Toothpaste squeezed from the middle, toilet seat left up, bathroom countertop overflowing encroaching on "my" sink.
We talk about these things to the point she now says she hates the way I nag at her, so I've given up.  I do my best to keep the house in order and take care of all the little things I can, and maybe it's just me, but it gets under my skin - a lot.
I guess it's just a damn good think I love her so much!

Yes, those little things are so annoying! Errrr...I can understand that. Just like my husband put dirty clothes everywhere except where they go. Drives me nuts!
