Hi There, How Are You?
Hi everyone, and thanks for letting me post. I know there are real issues and problems in the world, war, disease, poverty, child abuse, natural disasters, but it distresses me to no end that the media/general public, esp. in the Fairfield County area of Connecticut, seem to have a distaste for people that are NOT physically perfect, overweight, etc. and it truly seems to be economic. It is an unspoken distaste, maybe hatred is too strong a word, i am 244 lbs and other women (men seem to be polite on the surface) will not meet my eyes if i hold a door or say hello, or thank you, or pass on the sidewalk, hallway, whatever. As it is i struggle daily, usually in vain, with zero self-esteem and depression, but this seems to make it much worse. I feel guilty to leave the house to go to work, grocery shopping (especially), take my child anywhere, family gatherings, etc., wait for the bus. It is an invisible stigma, a brand that is seared into my consciousness. Does anyone else feel this also?
