Those Words Have A Death Meter Attached To Them!

And they are going to throw it at you and it's going to blow up in your face! They might as well tell you, "I don't want to blow you up to smithereens, but I'm going to throw this bomb that's seconds away from exploding at you and blow you to smithereens. But hey, I gave you a heads-up so it should be okay."

Um, no. Just... No.

To tell you the truth, I find it even harsher when someone says those words before hurting your feelings than when they are in a screaming rage and shouting all kinds of things along with some colorful profanity.

At least when someone is in such a rage and are shouting the most unbelievable things at you, at least you know they are not thinking straight and will likely be sorry later when they cool down. At least you know the chances of them meaning it aren't exactly high and you know they may feel bad for it later. And like I said, they aren't thinking straight so they aren't really taking into mind how their words are affecting you and how much they are hurting you.

But when someone is calm and then they say in the middle of a mini non-heated argument or just to prove a point about you, "I don't want to hurt your feelings, but..." I find that to be messed up on a whole other level because they are acknowledging that they are going to hurt you and are choosing to let the words rip through their mouths anyway for a more than likely unnecessary reason, such as to prove a point that may not exactly even be a big deal or worth hurting you for. That's just cold and selfish. It's a way for someone to hurt you on purpose, but in a way that makes you swallow your hurt or anger because, hey, they did say they didn't want to hurt your feelings. That's different from the first one. It's more messed up if you really think about it, to have your feelings hurt in this manner rather than in the first scenario.

In my opinion, if you have to add the words, "I don't want to hurt your feelings, but..." to the first part of a sentence, then you probably shouldn't finish it or even say it at all for that matter.
