I Hate Where I Live
Ok, when many surveys say Philly is one of the unhappiest (or perhaps least clean, or rudest) cities in the U.S. they are not kidding. The city itself is terrible, especially when you're going to visit the 'attractions', it takes 8 hours to find a parking space and I've never met a single Philadelphian who was hospitable and many are actually rude beyond the imagination. It doesn't get much better in the rich, snobby suburbs outside of Philly either - in fact, it gets even worse, if such a thing is possible. People glower at you wherever you go, and stare you down if you're wearing a piece of clothing that is one ounce originality outside of the norm - and we're talking a leather coat or pair of pants here, not a Lady Gaga circus outfit. Everyone acts like they have a stick shoved up their ***; maybe that's why when you attempt to drive on the out dated, clogged highways systems most drivers are afraid to drive over 25 MPH.
Who knows. But you won't find one bit of hospitality and in many cases normalcy in this area of the USA. It has destroyed years of my life, due to horrible kids in the school system in the ENTIRE school district, the terrible co-workers I've had to put up with, and the horrendous conditions I've suffered from due to strange and unfriendly neighbors. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID. I will defend myself and say I am NOT a negative, bleak person -- I'm fun loving, enjoy nice company and like happy environments and generally happy people. Whenever I visits areas like D.C., Newport and Richmond, I'm pleased with the surroundings and the people. Then I head back into Philadelphia, and I want to cry myself to sleep at night. ONCE AGAIN... AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
