It's Not A Hairball!

In the summer of 2011 my cat at age 5 started making weird coughing noises. I dismissed it at first thinking it was a hairball or some weird cat thing- but one day it just... hit me. It sounded like he was struggling to breathe. Copious amounts of internet research and more than the recommended dose of anxiety later I take him to the vet for an x-ray and it turns out he does have asthma.

He started on prednisone pills but eventually we got him on an inhaler (they have them for cats.. its called an Aerokat! pretty nifty) and he's not coughing anymore. Such a relief =)

I was surprised to see nobody on this website had this experience though... I think I read that 1 in 100 cats has feline asthma. I'm sure there are more than 200 cat owners on this website. =s But maybe nobody thinks of it, or people have asthmatic cats without knowing. ):
