I've also used fresh cayenne pepper for my boys. Just by sprinkling a tiny bit on the "victim" item helps deter them from that particular area.

Here is a tip: I had a problem with the exception of she wanted to pee over everything on the floor or in her reach. I bought some storage bags that zip up to store anything that may be on the floor or within her reach.

That included: extra clothes, blankets, pillows, old books, etc. I found that once I eliminated any way for her to soil my things she stopped doing it. She would attempt to pee on the bag but since it is made of a plastic material the pee wouldn't absorb, she didn't like the fact that her pee would just sit in a pool, she only liked doing it because is absorbed like her litter box but she could smell it and it was marked as hers.

Just store your bag in either a garbage bag or some kind or zip up bag to keep the smell away from your cat so it won't be attracted to it.

Pure vinegar will remove the odor. Also, if your cat is not fixed, getting it fixed could help the problem. If it is fixed, urinating in a place other than the litter box can also indicate a health problem, such as a urinary tract infection.
