Quasar and Sinuhe

As the title suggests, I have two cats. I got Quasar as an early wedding present in 2004. My mother took me to the pet store to pick out a kitten, and there was a whole litter of these incredibly fuzzy, robust little guys. One of them was solid grey, and he was asleep face-down in his food dish. It was love at first sight.

My husband came up with the name. He was taking an astronomy class at the time, and he was fascinated by quasars. It seemed fitting - Quasar was bright, mysterious and beautiful, just like his namesake.

When Quasar was about a year old, we got Sinuhe. We briefly had another cat, but he passed away suddenly from liver failure. Quasar was lonely and restless without his companion, so we finally decided to get another kitten. This time I picked out the oldest, friendliest cat in the store. Older cats have a harder time finding homes than tiny kittens, and I wanted a cat closer to Quasar's age. Sinuhe was still very young -- only about 5 months -- but it was obvious as soon as I picked him up that he was the right one. He began to purr instantly.

Sinuhe is also grey, and my husband likes to call the pair "The Grey Brothers." They're a couple of loonies, and I love them both very much.
