Well she was a character from the start, always getting into something or another. She broke one of the ac vents in the floor and used it to go in and out of the house. Lucky for her we used only window units. Well as a teen kitty she popped up pregnant on me before I could get her to the vet to get spayed. A few days before she gave birth I got an orphaned newborn baby kitten to raise (I worked at an animal hospital) that had been abandoned at my job. As soon as I got home she took him from me and began to nurse him. she put him in the box we had fixed up for her to have her kittens. A few days later she went into labor. After she had the first kitten she moved the orphan under my bed and went back to her box to have the rest of her babies. After her kittens were a week old she moved the orphan back into the box. I think she was giving them a chance to get stronger before putting the bigger kitten in with them. She would just go back and forth until she put them together. The kittens got old enough to go to new homes and one by one they all went. During this time she would go out and come back with some kittens that belonged to another cat in the neighborhood. Every day we took them back and every night she brought them back. This continued until all her kittens were gone.
So we got the surgery and life went on. Boyfriends came and went and time passed. She ruled the house, especially my son, with an iron paw. She would climb into his lap and make him pet her and halfway through she would turn around and hiss at him angrily, then she would give him the sign to keep petting her. She would always look on my girlfriends with disdain but always flirted shamelessly with their boyfriends. She only allowed outsiders (female) to pet her if they told her she was beautiful or gorgeous as they did it.
When I moved in with my mom to help her pay for her house she settled right in. She immediately went across the street and made friends with an elderly widower that lived there alone, she visited with him every day. She also, surprisingly, made friends with a little boy next door who seemed pretty isolated from other kids. She also periodicaly brought home large rats and birds that she killed, if she saw us throw them away she would return with something else later that day. The only way to make her happy was to bring them into the house and sneak themout later. We went on this way for many years.
When tropical storm Allison flooded Houston, the clinic I worked at was also flooded and after the repairs were done the furiniture that had been salvaged and stored came back with a mouse infestation. We tried every thing and could not get them under control. I brought Miss Kitty to the clininc and every night we let her loose in the clinic. Every morning when we got there we would find pieces of mice, blood stains and other evidence of mouse massacre all over the place. The last mouse we ever saw there walked into an unbaited trap, maybe he thought that would be an esier death than the one she had for him. Miss Kitty lived to be 13 years old when she suffered massive acute kidney failure. i know this group is for having a cat and not having once had a cat, but I still have that cat in my heart. Every cat that I've ever met has come into comparison with her. I just wish I had a good pictureof her to share.
