Album? Abbey Road, I guess. It was the first album I ever purchased. It blew my mind. It was old when I bought it, and almost no one I knew seemed to get how great it was.

I give George Martin and the engineers at Abbey Road a ton of credit. This album sounds the way it does because of them. The Beatles were truly amazing creative musicians, but the SOUND is very much George Martin and the guys at Abbey Road. Anyone who doesn't believe it can listen to the solo albums and get back to me.

The Beatles never sounded better than they did on Abbey Road. To me their songwriting was at it's zenith, and they were better guitar players than ever. The drum sound was better than ever before, and so were the guitars and bass. I could go on, but that would be lame, huh? For me, it's the greatest album, period.

The greatest Beatles song? The End. I love the nine-part guitar solo, three turns each from McCartney, Harrison, and Lennon in that order. It's my favorite 37 seconds of music.

Oh, she's had a lot more written about her, including most of the "Layla" album and "Wonderful Tonight". Besides these decidedly romantic songs, Clapton also wrote some about her when the relationship began to sour, such as "The Shape You're In".

In fact, "Wonderful Tonight" was written because Clapton was waiting for her to get dressed one night so they could go out, and she was taking a long time. He was exasperated, and kept telling her, "You look wonderful." and the song was pretty much written that night.

Not sure how many Harrison wrote about her, but "Something" was one.

Plus, I should have called her Patti Boyd Harrison Clapton.

Yeah, I'm a bit of an Eric Clapton and George Harrison fan.

You know, if you would have inspired "Something", you would have also inspired "Layla". Both were written about the same woman --- Patti Harrison Clapton.

I do, too, Tate3. "Here Comes the Sun" and "Something" are particular favorites, as well as "While My Guitar Gently Weeps".

"Abbey Road" is a great album. probably my second favorite of theirs, but almost the favorite.

I wasn't a huge fan of "Maxwell's Silver Hammer", "Octopus's Garden", or "Her Majesty", but the rest of "Abbey Road" is nothing short of jaw-dropping brilliant.

I agree. Hard to pick a favorite song from all of those great ones.
