I Have Chronic Depression. ...

I have chronic depression. Although, I do not take medication for it anymore. I find that it is easier to defeat it on my own. Most people don't agree with this, but I have been off my meds for two years and I seem to be doing fine.

Some people just can't cope without the meds, there is nothing wrong with that. It doesn't make you weak. The main reason why I refuse to take the meds is my job. I can't drive a truck on depression meds. It is a constant mental fight for me to stay out of that black pit.

In the past 6 years, I have learned to recognize when that black pit opens up at my feet. I will definately keep your advice close just in case it gets to be more than I can handle.

Hey, whatever floats your boat, hon. Depression is a very individual illness-- what works for one may not work for someone else. I've been off and on just about every psych med in the book, and currently am off all of it. do not let anybody make you feel bad for going off your meds... but try to keep an open mind about going back on them if it gets bad again.
