I had been searching since July of 2008, when I was laid off. Finally, just when the call came saying my car was pending reposession, the phone rang again. The voice I was waiting to hear saying the words I was waiting to hear, "The position is yours if you still want it." From my mouth came words of gracious acceptance, but in my mind and body and Spirit were undignified shouts of excitement and praises to God. When ni got off the phone, my words joined the celebration. Just minutes later, my sister called me and I shared the news with her. I think she was just as excited as I was. Word spread like wildfire. I only told one person and she told our mother, who as they say "can't hold water". Soon everyone knew I had a job.
I am now Resident Manager at E.U. Kennedy Shelter. I can honestly say that I love my job. I love what I do and the population I work with. I get paid to do ministry. I get paid to do what I love.
After a long nightmare of financial stress, family problems, losing one of my cats, being involuntarily detained in a mental health facility, feeling abandoned by loved ones in my greatest time of need, etc... At last... It's a dream come true. Thanks be to God!
