It surprises me sometimes how little we really understand. Happiness is a choice and not a prize at the end of some quest. Twice now someone has suggested that I make it sound easy. That is not my intention I know better than most how not easy it is. My father was an ex-con. He beat me almost every day of my childhood. He told me just as often that I was stupid and would never amount to anything. I was sexually abused by another man. When my parents used me to the point that I had nothing left to give they abandoned me. I lived half my life alone in the world. Until I married my current wife I had never had a friend to hang with. I know about depression and how difficult it is to overcome. Healing doesn't begin though until you choose to be healed. When you make that choice then you go on with courage to overcome all that has held you back. For example when depressing thoughts come into your head you tell yourself "I will give this thought ten minutes and that is all it is worth." Then you get up and do something to take your mind off that thought. When it pops up again you tell yourself "I have already given this thought all the time it is worth." Then again you do something to take your mind off that thought. You keep doing this until you gain control of your mind. It may not be easy, but it is doable. <br />

So, as I said before, happiness is a choice. You have to take control of your life, if you want to be happy.

Find contentment with the past, happiness in the present, and hope for the future. Best of life to you.

Happiness is not something you find. It is a choice you make. You choose to be happy. It is about attitude and perception. Your happiness belongs in your pocket and not in someone else's. You are the master of your life, so step out of the past and make it happen :-)
