Don't Touch My Hair

I used to be really bad at looking after my hair as a child. It's fine & frizzy so knots easily. So the matron at my boarding school would do it. She used a wooden brush & when I figited she's whack me on the back of the head with it.

If the knots got too bad I got sent to the hairdressers to have it sheared off really short. I dispise short hair & think it looks hideous on me.

I also have hair of an unusual color - goldish with a red tint. I regularly get random people touching, pulling or stroking my hair - old women, strange men, kids. I freaks me out!

Result, sitting at a chair while someone brushes, washes & cuts my hair makes me very anxious & sick to my stomach nervous. Iknow its nasty, but I haven't been to a hairdresser in years.

I have sort of the same thing is i have been reduced to tears infront of my mum if she says weve got to go hop down to the hair dressers for a trim (my mum is lovely) but i hate people touching my hair :( i have my hair cut about 1 every six weeks because my hair is THICK but i dont even let my mum touch my hair what should i do?

I know just how you feel, I've always had really healthy medium thick, glossy hair, with a very healthy scalp. In other words, my head was head-lice central. I fought against this aweful bug for more then 10 years and my mom would comb my hair with a nit-comb which hurt like hell. There's no other way to describe it.
And thus I got more and more anxious about people touching my hair, and now people think that I'm being a prissy primadonna when it comes to my "don't touch the hair" policy.
I've been cutting my hair myself since I was 13 and it looks rather well, going to the haidresser's scares me more than going to the dentist. xD
