I don't go to church because I don't want anyone telling me that they (and often ONLY they) know the mind of God and if I will only trust them they will take me on the one true path to God.<br />

If my personal salvation is indeed at stake then I will take the time need to research religious, philosophic and/or spiritual thoughts and I will be responsible for my soul as I truly are no matter if I place the responsibility in to some one hands or not. ...DD

I go to Church because I want to get closer to Christ & His Mother - the archetypal Christians

I don't go to church because the people that go to my church are the most judgmental individuals I have ever met.

Interesting. I don't go to church right now because I am planning to divorce and I don't want to have the Bishop of the church trying to offer me counseling. Churches don't seem to like it when their members decide to divorce not even if the divorced people remarry and invite their new spouses to worship there.
