All I can say is I completely understand what you're going through. I can't offer advice just support. I'm at a loss as how to help my mother too.

Oh Clancy I am so so sorry that you are going through this. My post was June 2011, the situation deteriorated to the point where she took an overdose, she was then sectioned for a further 3/4 months but then V SLOWLY she has started to get better. There is hope!! If someone had said to me she would improve I would never have believed them, honestly. How long has your mum been poorly now. It is the loneliest illness to cope with, the gardest thing i gave ever faced in my life! friends and colleagues do NOT get it. Where do you live? Are you getting any support?

Ah thanks very much for the reply. I'm glad things have gotten better for you. My mothers' doc said she will never fully recover so we have to accept that and try to come to terms with how she is now. We only realised my mam was really sick in 2008 but there were glimpses of her illness if I'm honest for a long time before that. I have great support from my husband and sister in law thank god and you're right unless you've been through it people don't understand. I live in Ireland.
