I Dont Get It...

why does someone need to do a certain something on a certain day to prove they love you?

i dont get it.

why do you need a day dedicated to love? surely you should just be grateful you're with someone, why just because its the fourteenth day of the second month of a year must they prove their love?

why should love ever have to be proved?

I love my mother every day of my life, but I still give her flowers and a treat on Mother's Day.....

exactly, which is why it should be celebrated everyday, rather than just one day. surely if you are with someone, your love for them should make you want to do something ncie, rather than the day of the year

Why does this bother you?<br />
I can think of nothing better to calibrate than love.

Why NOT have a day specially devoted to love (and not just romantic love)?<br />

I wouldn't want to see Valentine's Day abolished. I love chocolate.........

"but why do it more on this day, floydian? why not do it every time you feel like it? and if you dont feel like it, why should you have to because of the date?"<br />

To take the last part first, if you don't feel like it, you don't have to do it at all, regardless of the date. And as for the first part, when I'm in love, I do very much celebrate it each and every day...just ask those I've loved. But those celebrations are between the two of us, and only marginally seen by others. As one in love, one who celebrates that love 365 1/4 days a year, it's fun for me to have a special day devoted to the public recognition of it.<br />
<br />
But participation is NOT required. If you don't feel like celebrating with me, you don't have to!

See, we made a day to express it, today its like, ah well, I mean we defined it as a day for love, so why not. I do agree that everyday can be the same, but would it not be a little weird and expensive too if your guy walked in with stuff everyday! LOL<br />
<br />
What I am trying to say is that we found a day to just celebrate and share happiness and spread it, so why not do that?<br />
<br />
And for people who do it for date, ah well, I can only feel sorry for them!

but why do it more on this day, floydian? why not do it every time you feel like it? and if you dont feel like it, why should you have to because of the date?<br />

I agree, MiaBella...... but Ill keep mum too....

Love does not have to be proved, it has to be expressed!<br />

And for the valentines day, its just another excuse to spread happiness and celebrate! =)
