When Does a Scar Look Like a Shoe....

I was very young around 10, it was towards fall and a weekend! I was walking through an Alleyway in Columbus ,where I live at the time ,with two friends headed to their house to play.
As we were walking we saw Little ,(fat Jacks brother), johnny <"he was probably 6" and lived about 5 houses down the block, standing behind a garage, next to a pile of leaves and by a perforated garbage can .
This can was smoking and he was squirttin' something into it from a hand size soap bottle, Kinda like a smaller laundry detergent bottle.
Anyway as we approached, we noticed that what he was squirting in it was making the can flame up. and we yelled for him to stop Kinda like HEY!
Anyhoot he saw us, got startled , scared and tossed the bottle down and ran his little *** off. LOL
So as we got closer I saw this bottle layin' on it's side in the leaves next to the garage.
It was emitting a small flame , kinda the size of a small lighter, and was lightly pulsing.
Doing what I thought was right, I place my tennis shoe next to the side of the bottle and attempted to slide the bottle onto alleyway away from the fire hazard and save the garage and be re known to all as the great extinguisher, Savior of the Alley..
Unfortunately the bottle actually was molten and melted across my shoe and all the gas inside soak the canvas of my shoe.
K
footnote. Kinda tongue is cheeky ain't it... SO this is back in Da' day when we were taught to tie our shoes and pull our laces tight.... Needless to say, I was running around trying to kick off my shoe with my other foot , It seemed like forever, maybe 30 sec to a minute, I was screaming ,running and trying to kick this fire off me.
A Neighbor Mr Pierce, A Short stout man Of About 5'.5'',Whom love his beer

and spent his days inside his garage,(His place of Escape), Most people would have called him a Drunk, and suffered from depression and anguish most of his life, whom also was A full Blown Native from the Cornstalk Reservation came to my rescue , lifted me up in his arms and carried me home .
Thanks Mr Pierce LOts and Lots of Love coming your way!!!!...
Sadly also, this I didn't know till I was Older, His Son Roy,( a good friend of my brother growing up), Had also, as a boy, accidentally burned his entire chest to his neckline...
To this day I have a nice size 1st 2nd and 3rd degree scar on the side of my ankle, that looks like the upper line cut of the top of the shoe and runs upward over my ankle.
Man! the few weeks I spent in the Hospital were nothing compared to coming home and having the dressing change out till it healed again..
Seems as lives interact we learn of others suffering and wish we all had suffered enough....
Take care...
