I Have a Sponsor Child
I began sponsoring a child a few days ago. His name is Fernando Leopoldo and he's from El Salvador and he's eight years old. I had always planned to become a sponsor once I finished University (I have three years until I have my masters) as money is, and always has been, tight. But Saturday evening a volunteer from World Vision knocked on my door, and being interested in the program, I asked for some information. While we were sitting at my kitchen table talking, I began to think about all the things that I could do without, and it dawned on me that all I had to do was not go out for dinner twice in a month to be able to afford the $35 payments. I thought back to my first year of college when my roommate and I went a couple of months without being able to buy groceries, so we survived entirely on potatoes that we dug from her mom's garden. Right now $35 is not going to mean the difference between being able to pay bills so I signed up to sponsor Fernando.
