I Have a Strange Fear

Goldfish... Yes, Goldfish.

I'm not afraid of alot.. Actually, I have one true fear, and that fear is Goldfish. I am absolutley terrified of the most harmless animal. I can't walk by a goldfish tank without going into a panic attack. I'm not afraid of other fish, just those dang goldfish. It's really weird, and I hate explaining it to people because they look at me as if I am insane. My mom bought me a goldfish one time, when I was young. I loved it, until said goldfish flopped out of the tank and I stepped on it. Since then, Goldfish are my mortal enemies. My friend thought it would be hilarous to buy one, and throw the little bag that it was in at me. I cried. It was embarassing. I do believe that I may be the only one with this fear, although it would be extremely refreshing if someone else had it too. But it's like a million to 1 chance. haha.. Because it's insane. I realize how crazy it is. But to each his own.

    i have the same fear (all fish) i cant go to the zoo or Chinese restaurants, pet stores if i go to a friends house the must cover their fish tank. i'm close to tears as i write this, thank God i'm not the only one.

    I too suffer from a fear of goldfish (as well as touching any fish), mine didn't begin from a goldfish flopping around outside of water but actually seeing a dead goldfish floating in the tank as a small child I think. I can't even stand to look at them, especially the ones with the bulgy eyes. The worst thing about my fear of them is that it gets even worse if the fish is dead. Actually, I have a fear in general about dead fish in fish tanks, but in particular with goldfish it is more extreme, like to the point where even a live goldfish will freak me out. Something about those goldfish that I just don't like.

      I could have written that- I feel the same way! I'm afraid of all fish, but goldfish (particularly the ones with the creepy eyes) are the worst. And dead they're even more terrifying, but I'm afraid of all dead things (which is one of the main reasons I'm a vegetarian). It can be so embarrassing, because people understand if you're afraid of their pet snake, but they think you're insane if you freak out over a dead goldfish. It's good to know I'm not alone.

    Finally I have found someone else with my crazzzzy fear! I am the EXACT same! Except mine didnt start from stepping on it, however the thing that terrifys me the most is when they are out side the tank and flapping, urgh even reading your story gave me the creeps haha Im so glad im not the only one who fears goldfish!
