I Have a Teenage Daughter

My Daughter Is 15...what A Handful She Is!

I'm a younger single father , I had my daughter when I was still a teenage.

I'm not sure how to deal with her as she gets older. She is becoming very smart mouthed and disrespectful. Not at all the same little angel she used to be. I'm to the point of grounding her so often that I'm starting to feel like the bad guy here. I mean she yells at me when I ground her and the few times I've lost my cool and yelled back...of course she cries and then I feel bad.

My friends say she is playing me and I need to lay down the law more. Like what does that mean? I'm already grounding her and taking away everything she owns and with no improvement.

Any ideas or advice? I'm at a loss here!

    Girls at that age hate rules! If you are too rigid, she may intentionally break all rules for the sake of making you mad.
    Genuinely befriend with her. Treat her as equal. She'll respect you.

    I hope you didn't take that advice and spank her. I think the most important thing is to have open communication. Try talking to her take her out for ice cream or idk do something you both like doing. I don't know how close you two are but maybe she's feeling awkward since you're a guy and she's 15 at that awkward stage. Just don't give up on her I've always longed for a father daughter relationship but its never happened. Be patient, be consistent with consequences, talk about rules with her ask her what she thinks is fair, talk about consequences, compromise, make her feel like she is part of making the rules.     OMG, single dad here too, Im shocked to see all the parents on here who are not spanking, pull up a spanking group and see how well they work on a teen girls attitude... This is a time in her life that is way too serious to wonder what will work, go with what does so there is no regret later. Your child needs the paddle, it will wake her up quick.
