Wondering If I Should Get A Second Opinion....

The results of an ultrasound scan I had done last Friday revealed that I have two cysts on my thyroid. My doctor said that it's nothing to be concerned about, but he's going to send me off to get a nuclear scan done, and then a biopsy. He said the next two tests are to just check the cysts to see if they're effecting the functioning of my thyroid. On the phone a few days ago he said that they wanted to do this to make sure that they're not cancerous. When I reminded him that he hadn't scheduled my nuclear scan yet he said that there are two kinds, and that he's trying to make I get the right one. He doesn't even know which scan I should be getting!

If a person displays hypothyroid symptoms yet their free T4 test came back ok, and they have two cysts on their thyroid shouldn't they be refered to a specialist?! Also when I told him that my voice is scratchy he said that it's not because of my cysts because they're small. What I want to know is that if they're so small how come I can feel them through my skin? Crazy right! I also told him how my gland on the back of my head swells up, and he said they're unrelated. What I want to know is how does he know they're unrelated when it clearly states swolen glands as a sign of thyroid cancer...

When did doctors become so lazy? If you have an otherwise healthy patient, and then they're having swollen glands in their neck, and cysts on their thyroid you should be concerned, and want to know why! I have been complaining of hypothyroid symptoms for years now, and one time my results did come in a little low, but not low enough to concern the doctor I was seeing at the time. I'm so fat, and I hardly eat. I have PCOS, and the doctor said this is probably the reason for my weight gain, and yet nobody sends me to a specialist!!!!

Am I wrong for wanting a second opinion I wonder....
