Why Do I Still Having Vitamin D Deficiency Symptoms After Treatment?

I am a 26 year old . Last July I started having palpitations, and I had been having dizzy spells. Of course the dr. checked my heart- no major problems. My thyroid level was ok.
I was still sick about 3 months later. By November I had dizziness, headaches, terrible back pain, rt ankle swelling/pain,pressure in rt eye/face, extreeeeme fatigue, loss of interest in anything, short of breath at times, mood swings, memory loss, and anxiety!!! I HAVE SEEN MULTIPLE SPECIALISTS- Cardio, Gastro,ENT, Neuro, OB/GYN,Endo and a Rheumatologist. After all these docs trying to put me on meds for everything from anxiety to high blood pressure, the endocrinologist finally tested my vitamin D level.

My vitamin D level was 11 ng/L !!, I thought I WAS DYING FOR MONTHS AND HAD ACCEPTED THE FACT. Pray, research, and demand thorough treatment. The only reason I discovered these problems was because I decided they would not find out what my illness was on autopsy.

The doctors, unfortunately, is not ALWAYS looking at you as an individual, but as a textbook case. My endocrinologist (2nd in 4 months) prescribed 50,000 I.U. 2 times a week for 4 weeks and then it decreases to  times a week for 4 weeks.
Now my level 85 ng/L ,I am frustrated that I still having some symptoms,I have been living in HELL for the past 8 months and I am looking forward to heaven on earth again!!! Have a little faith.
please any one who been treated with vitamin d3 are your symptoms better?
Thank you for any comments/info you have to offer..God bless

I'm taking extra D3, because u cannot handle the pain and dizziness and brain dog anymore. I cannot wait to feel better. I wish you all the same. This is HORRIBLE!!!

Does anyone have any tips for dealing with the pain? I have been on 110,000 IU of D a week and still feel like I am being stabbed all over my body. Yoga? Meditation? Does anything help?

I've been on 50000 i.u for about 7 weeks , there a 30% improvement , but am still not fit by a mile to do any physical excercise . Am still suffering some of the symptoms such as depression , as it is one of the worst symptoms , I cant get out and socialise well . My blood tests showed normalities at the tests including some of the essential metals ( Not remebering testing for calcium ) except for vitamin D which was 12 , The pain is unbearable , I cant see myself after 2-3 years , I agree , sometimes I believe death is better , but come on , show some faith in God and in yourself .

Someone PLEASE HELP!! Long story short I have been sick since Jan 2010 with Thyroid problems and low vit D. <br />

I'm so glad i found this website. I have a similar story. I've been suffering for about 8 months. I am diabetic type 1. And for the longest time, my doctor thought it had something to do with my diabetes, then Restless Leg Syndrome, then Fibramalaysia. Finally I got tested for Vitamin D on January 17th and found out that it is at 7! So, now I'm taking 10,000 IU a day with other vitamins (including B12, Calcium, Magnesium, among multivitamin). I know it hasn't been long, but I am suffering and wanted to know how long this will last? I am crying all the time, I don't go out anymore (except to sit in the sun for 20-30 a day), I filed for disability because my work didn't want me to work until I got better (I was missing a lot of days, I was crying at work because of pain... I can't sit or stand or walk for more than 30 minutes. I have to constantly move around). Do you guys have pain? It's unbearable!!!!! I also don't sleep at night. I'm living a nightmare and really want to be normal again. Will I ever enjoy life? Please, tell me more about your situation. Did it effect your work or school or social life? I keep searching online for vitamin D deficiency and sever pain but it seems people have uncomfortable or some pain, not like what i have. Sometimes i think death would be better than this. I'm sorry, I'm crying while I type this. I just can't take it anymore! I sit here everyday in pain while I count the seconds. I can't even watch TV, or talk on the phone, or read a book. This can't be life!!!

I know D is helping me with muscles, but if I were you, I'd add magnesium citrate for your pain as well. I take 2x the daily allowance in pills that disolve/gel caps daily. They really help too.

I have been sick for 18 months now and been through countless amounts of doctors. My rheumy finally found my Vitamin D level at 13. We supplemented with 50,000 IUs for 6 weeks plus calcium to absorb the Vitamin D and rechecked my level... still 13. I am in the middle of treatment/finding a diagnosis at Mayo Clinic right now. One thing being considered is my parathyroid. If that is malfunctioning, your body won't absorb the Vitamin D.

Hey, I am now almost 26. I am in the exact same situation. I have heart palputations, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, etc. The Dr. told me to take anti depressents, but I demanded him to take blood work. My Vitamin D level was 11 and they gave me 50,000 UI weekly. A year later I got tested and it was just as low. My body just won't absorb vitamin D. I have been doing lots of research on my own about it and 1 of the main things I realized is that your body doesn't absorb properly if you are under stress. The main step to do is to destress. I've been working on it. It isn't easy.

My partner and I are working on a Vitamin D Light that allows the body to far more easily metabolize D by exposing the skin to UVB rays. Unlike orally taken supplements, which requires massive quantities because the body passes most of the vitamin D, radiant D works more effeciently and one cannot over dose, because the body "shuts off" the d when it has received what it needs. I may be emailed at techspec@tucker-usa.com for more information.
