Physicians That Saved My Life....

 Finding a cure for ABL in 1990 had to have been something unheard of, and I don't mean maybe. And even more so when there is no sibling match for the transplant. Yet despite those odds, not to mention those of post transplant with gvhd, etc... I am here and I am alive 21 yrs. it will be in September of 2011 !!!  God alone couldn't do this, but with the doctors He had in my path, the possibility certainly existed!!!!   These doctors are Karl Blume, Professor at Stanford, Dr. Nelson Chao, Division Chief and Professor of Duke University's Adult and Children's Stem Cell, and BMT Programs, along with Gwyn Long, also at Duke, Dr. Negrin, at Stanford Univ. If not for these doctors I would never have survived!! God Bless!   Anjanette

    My fiance has it. He has been in the hospital since Dec. 8, 2011. As of now, he has had chemo and the doctor told him today that all his cells were killed. This is confusing to me. I would like to know is you have chemo., what chemicals were used on you.

      my chemo's were ara/c, vincristine, donomyacin/arubimyacin,methothrexate and one other i cant remember the name. They were all horrible in their own way. I received transplant while in my first remission and the marrow was an unrelated donor. Before transplant the same chemos plus radiation were again given only much stronger doses.     Thats amazing! I could only hope the same fate for my baby girl. She has been in remission 2 years now after relapsing from the Bone Marrow Transplant. Your story gives me hope and faith!
