Finding Others Like Me...

I have had type one diabetes since I was 6 years old. At age 28 after a very lengthy illness I was finally diagnosed with hypothyroidism and waited for the synthroid to work. My mom was taking care of a very sick daughter and taking care of my 2 year old. I would have just laid on my moms couch and died I felt so terrible. Painful joints, no appetite, low blood sugars because I still needed to take my insulin, racing heart after a couple of steps. My mom made me keep going back to the doctor who had never seen me healthy. Finally he remembered "beware the bronze diabetic" from his medical school books and some tests were done and I was diagnosed with Addison's disease. I felt great after getting my first dose or cortsone acetate.

That was 13 years ago and I've never found anyone with my struggles. I have been having a lot of joint pain and was wondering if anyone else has been having the same prooblem? I saw an endo here in the small town I live in and told my family doctor I wouldn't go back to the quack after he asked me if I should see a councellor afer I told him some of the things I've been dealing with. I've been asked if I want an anti depressant too. Said "no thanks it's not a pill I need to take to stay alive."

I've been diagnosed with poly glandular auto immune type one which means I have an over active immune system that is shutting down my glands. Knock on wood no more glands frap out...
