AIDS- the Lonely Killer

Dealing with Hiv and then being told you have full blown AIDS is ALMOST the hardest thing to deal with in life. The hardest thing is coping with the virus because I find people just don't understand and think you are a leper!

So called frinds don't bother anymore and one becomes lonely and isolated. Being sent home from work just becaise you have a rash is possibly the most embarrassing thing I had to put up with because people just assume you have the lurgy. The only thing that keeps me sane is Eastenders re-runs featuring Mark Fowler on Uk Gold. Some days I cant even be bothered to get dressed and stay in my pants on the setee.

Its fair to say Ive given up the fight.

No...please don't. There's so much more to life. And you can always make new friends. Keep it going...

This guy is dead now.

I feel your pain. I find that the loneliness is the toughest part about having AIDS. I have not been in a relationship in 15 years. I have been HIV+ for 18 years. I do, however, have friends that have not abandoned me. That gets me through. Sometimes barely, but gets me though. If you ever need someone to chat with be in touch. Same here - if you are ever in my neck of the woods, Philly, be in touch.
You definitely need people to talk about HIV/AIDS with and to share experiences (or just get stuff off your chest with people who understand). I get much help with online HIV chat support @ http://www.AIDSchat.org (it has saved my life a few times).

Sorry to hear it dude, if you ever roam around TN, you're always welcome around my campfire...so long as you bring your share of marsh mellows (no handouts damnit!!!!!)

come and chill with me. im lonely too.

It isn't fair that you be isolated. You, like me and the others on EP are all humans. You deserve to be treated like everybody else. We walk along our streets and in our neighborhoods. Millions of people pass through with cancer, diabetes, and HIV, but we don't ask or notice. Because we are all humans.
I'm also here, please send me a note if you are lonely.

It is true there is much misunderstanding surrounding many illnesses, and AIDS especially. I hope that you can find something that makes it worth it to hang on.
