Especially With Music

I try to keep a notebook around to capture my thoughts as they come b/c insight often occurs in strange places like on the highway in traffic.  I've had many amazing thoughts, epiphonies, etc but so many have escaped.  Especially with music.  If I could remember every song that I've ever created in my head, I would be the greatest mad scientist musician ever.  No one can replicate the music in their head but getting closer to that is a goal of mine.

no problemo! ;-)

That's a great idea constant..thanks!

try carrying a palm pilot or some type of recording device so all you have to do is press a button rather than trying to finish writing out your thoughts just as traffic begins to move forward - always how it works for me and i never get the ending down and then i forget. most cell phones have a voice memo feature. this might be a good tool for you. you can even 'record' your ideas WHILE you're driving and that way you don't have to wait for the traffic to come to a halt (as if you really want that!) to write it down. since my 'booboo' my short term memory is nearly absent and when i have thoughts i have to record them or they WILL be forgotten. it's really been a helpful feature.

I have had dreams where I'm playing instruments but nothing like that. I have pretty graphic dreams but not usually dealing with music. It does suck to not be able to harness those kinds of experiences and put them to use.

Have you ever had a dream where you were singing a song - perfectly- and it doesn't even exist? You realize it was borne of your own mind! But when you wake up, you can't remember the words! I have, and it sux! I don't know if I was more thrilled that I made up a "good" song, or that I sang it so well! lol
