I Have Amyopathic Dermatomyositis
Hello
I have been diagnosed with Dermatomyositis now for the past two years. i originally got the rash around the eyes and thought I was alergic to some make up or soap etc. I changed everything, went to a naturopath and had hair strand test done. Nothing major came up. eventually i tried a new skin doctor in town and he recognised the symptoms. By this time my hands (knuckles and fingers) had the red scarring look. IT was confirmed with a biopsy and collaboration with a dermatologist in a major city.
Since then I have tried lots of different oitments, creams, natural stuff to ease the rash spreading on my arms, head and neck, but nothign really works. I am now taking 20mg of Methatexrate but at this point, I have no joy. I continually come back with results saying no muscle abnormality, but I am so tired most of the time and everything feels like such an effort. I think the Dermatologist thinks I am putting it on. I try not to complain to my family too much as I don't want them to worry. Besides it would make me feel like a whinger.
I go back to the Dermo guy this friday, but I am not expecting much, as I haven't noticed any changes. They keep telling me to keep out of the sun, but I have three small children and live in the tropics, so that is difficult, but I keep on trying my best to cover up without looking like a mummy of the ancient variety.
It is nice to find this site, to know I am not alone. Thank you to whomever set this up.
