My boyfriend is an alcoholic and he doesn’t even know it. We have broken up so many times because of his drinking. The last time he drank was November 9th, 2007. He said he was done and sorry. I believed him and took him back. I want us to be a family. I want my son to grow up knowing his father. He’s hasn’t drank anything since then but every day I’m scared. I’m afraid he’ll want to drink. He mentioned it the other day. Wanting just one beer. My stomach immediately went into knots and I could feel this pressure building in my chest. It was like my heart was breaking. That’s just where it has started every time though. He’d say its just one beer. Then two weeks later it’s, “How bout two beers?” and so on until he’s up to 18 beers in about 3 hours weighting in at 150 pounds. It really takes a toll on him… and me. He didn’t drink the other night but I’m dreading the day that he’ll slip. I cant take it anymore.

  | Posted Aug 25th, 2008 at 1:15PM I know what you are going through. The constant anxiety, always wondering when he will start drinking again. It's horrible. My bf said that to me, and I said "iif you drink, u r out." I just can't take the stress. And they dont' understand what they have done to us.   |
| Posted Dec 5th, 2008 at 7:35PM I understand exactly what you mean.. My boyfriend is an alcoholic and a has a drug problem. We try to talk to him and say everything we can but nothing is good enough hed rather drink until he passes out at the bar and doesnt come home, hes almost losing his job over this, and everytime its just one more or i know how to control it but its everynight all night long. Hes been to the hospital more times than i can count for alcohol poisonin and everytime the bar and drugs are more important than anything else. Its destroyin his life and i feel its just pointless to try anymore but i dont want to give up. |
| Posted Jan 11th, 2009 at 12:14AM My boyfriend is an alcoholic ..I left. He came to me and said I was more important, he knew he had a problem and he would stop. He attended AA meetings and sobered up for 6 months ...then he decided to start again at Christmas. Things are rocky again. He is out drinking tonight, he has also been hospitalized more than once with head injuries from his drinking. I don't know what else to do ... |
 | Posted Jan 14th, 2009 at 5:08AM I'm sorry to hear that. My boyfriend also fell off and started drinking again on New Years Eve. I know how you're feeling. It's sad and so hard to do what we know we should do. I know I shouldnt be with him but it's so hard to leave. He says he can control it this time but I know it's gonna be the same old crap 6 months from now when he can't control it. Its hard and it breaks my heart. I wish you all the best for all of you... :( |
