Well, true ... and in the USA those that are as sharp as a bag of doorknobs end up being the best paid and mostly without Uni degrees...

There's certainly a correlation between education and income, and it would intuitively make sense that there'd also be a correlation between IQ and income, but these are general trends at best and don't necessarily carry a whole lot of weight at the individual level.

I do internal tech support for a large company. It's not brain dead work, but it certainly isn't high brow by any stretch of the imagination. I'm not impoverished, but I don't make a lot of money and my long term career prospects are dim. But to me it's just a job, and not the focus of my life. Work can be very frustrating and unfulfilling at times, but at the same time I'm the happiest person I know precisely because my job is not where I get fulfillment. Outside of work I'm surrounded by people I love and we have crazy amounts of fun! I do strive to make the world a better place, but not in ways related to how I pay my bills.

As far as the idea that people with high IQs are unpleasant to be around, it depends on the person. I know someone in Mensa who's a right bastard with an enormous sense of entitlement. I know someone else in Mensa who is the kindest and most unassuming person I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. The other mensans I've met seem to roughly fit a bell curve somewhere in the middle. Arrogant people will be arrogant whether they derive their self-importance from their intelligence, their looks, or how much they can bench press.

everyone is a template. of their own strengths and weaknesses no one is good at absolutely everything which is what most IQ tests focus on.. and more often than not they contain trivial questions and if you don't follow trivia then you're automatically stupid? or you have points deducted.

what if you're a visual/feeling/intuitive thinker? Can you compete with the text based number thinkers? btw visual thinkers are often good spellers just not great in math. and text based thinkers aren't very good at visualizing at all but they can put numbers together. and sorry i am a visual/intuitive/feeler/senser, but i can absorb text like a sponge if its put together in a readable fashion.

equating high IQ directly to income is silly...

Topped out at 142 myself (except after a beer, it promptly drops to 130) and can relate to your remark. I expect it's due to the structural underpinnings of society favoring the concept of capital and the monetary system over intelligence. I believe when we switch over to a resource/participatory-based economy, the prevalent dependence on power and greed will fade. But I don't expect that to happen for another couple of hundred years due to its entrenched nature.

People with High IQ's are tough to live with because they begin to be separated intellectually from everyone more than 20 points below them. There arises a veil of understanding.

I think ruling the world, just like everything else I have done would just become another boring job. I could take over the wold then hand it over to someone else to manage then that might be fun.

**** yeah, I know what you mean. Having a high IQ makes you more likely to hate materialism, I believe... ruling the world doesn't seem worth the time of day

Very impressive, it's cool to know that your down to earth with it though...most people that I've been around that feel "superior" to me I can't stand!
